Syngonium podophyllum ‘Pink Splash’ is a striking tropical houseplant with arrow-shaped green leaves splashed and speckled with vibrant shades of pink. Each new leaf develops its own unique pattern, making this an eye-catching choice for collectors of colourful and variegated houseplants. As it matures, it develops a climbing or trailing habit and can be trained up a support or allowed to cascade.

Scientific Name
Syngonium podophyllum ‘Pink Splash’

Common Name(s)
Pink Splash Syngonium, Pink Arrowhead Plant, Arrowhead Vine

Origin
A cultivated variety of Syngonium podophyllum, a species native to tropical regions of Mexico, Central America and South America.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light will help maintain its distinctive pink colouring, while lower light can result in greener growth. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Water
Water when the top few centimetres of soil have dried, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid allowing the soil to become completely dry for extended periods, but don’t leave the plant sitting in water.

Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 50–70%. It will adapt to average household conditions but appreciates additional humidity, particularly in warm weather.

Soil
Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix. A combination of houseplant compost, orchid bark and perlite works well, providing a good balance of moisture retention and airflow around the roots.

Food
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Temperature
Prefers warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.

Pet-safe
No. Syngoniums contain calcium oxalate crystals and are harmful if eaten, so keep out of reach of pets and children.

Sprouts Top Tips
Give ‘Pink Splash’ plenty of bright, indirect light to encourage strong growth and maintain its beautiful colouring. The amount and placement of pink naturally varies from leaf to leaf, so don’t worry if some leaves are much pinker than others.

Extras
Young plants tend to have compact, arrow-shaped leaves, but Syngoniums are naturally climbing plants. As ‘Pink Splash’ matures, its stems will begin to vine and its leaves can change shape. Give it a moss pole or other support if you’d like to encourage larger, more mature foliage.

Did You Know?
The distinctive pink variegation of ‘Pink Splash’ varies naturally from leaf to leaf, meaning no two plants will look exactly the same. As the plant produces new growth, you can expect an ever-changing mix of pink and green patterns.
