Every plant is carefully packed by our small, plant-loving Bristol team using protective, mostly plastic-free packaging.

Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.

Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.

Delivery is £5 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.

We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £5 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.

We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.

Light
Bright, indirect light will make alocasias happy- either from overhead or within 2m of a window. Just make sure it's not too direct as this can scorch the leaves!

Water

Allow the top third of the soil to dry out in between waters; keep in mind it will need slightly less watering in the cooler months.

Humidity
Average household humidity is fine; when your heating is on, try increasing the humidity with a humidity tray. Will benefit from an occasional hose down to keep it free of dust and hydrate the leaves!

Soil

Use a moisture-retentive soil to keep this thirsty plant happy but not too soggy. Repot every two years if absolutely necessary; these plants would rather be potbound than risk being shocked by moving.

Food
Feed every four waters in the growing season, reduce to every six in autumn and winter. Pre-water the soil before applying 'ready to use' products to protect the roots.

Temperature

Ideally likes temperatures of 20-30°C; make sure it doesn't drop below 12°C in winter.

Pet-safe
No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
To maintain your alocasia, prune away any yellowed leaves with a sharp blade and clean cuts; don't cut through yellowed tissue and make sure cuts are clean to avoid shocking the plant!

Sprouts are officially my new 'go to' for houseplants! My only regret after placing my first order is that I didn't discover them sooner. I'm so glad I've found this brilliant little shop, and I'm already looking forward to growing my houseplant collection with them.

I recently ordered two Hoya Eskimos and an Alocasia Frydek. Unfortunately, due to the recent heatwave, the Alocasia arrived quite wilted and lost a few leaves during transit. This was completely out of Sprouts' control, but the way they handled the situation really showed how much they care about both their customers and their plants.
I contacted them on the day my order arrived, and they were incredibly understanding and immediately focused on finding a solution. They gave me the choice of a refund or replacement, and when I chose a replacement, they even sent me photos of their other Frydeks so that I could personally choose the one I wanted. They then arranged to send it once the weather had cooled down to give it the best possible chance of arriving safely.

The communication throughout the whole process (both after placing my original order and after contacting them about the issue) was fantastic. I was kept updated and knew exactly what was happening and when to expect my plants.

Both orders arrived quickly, the plants were very well packaged, and they were exactly as described and shown on the website. I've now had them for a few weeks, and I'm happy to say they're all thriving!

Another thing I love about Sprouts is the huge variety of plants they offer. Whether you're looking for rare and unusual plants, beautiful variegated varieties, or classic houseplant staples, there's something to suit every style, collection and budget. Their prices also make houseplants much more affordable and accessible, whether you're just starting your collection or are already an experienced plant parent.

I also really appreciate the added reassurance of their 7-day quality guarantee and the fact that if an issue does arise, they genuinely strive to put things right.

Their customer support is honestly outstanding. Jess was absolutely lovely, so friendly, understanding and helpful, and went above and beyond to resolve the issue.

It's so reassuring to find an online plant shop where you can buy with confidence, knowing that you'll receive great quality plants at reasonable prices and, if something unexpected happens along the way, you'll be treated with kindness and genuine care.

I couldn't recommend Sprouts enough, and I'm very excited for my next order! 🪴💚
